Multiple Teams · Stunt Cheer – State Champions!!

On Saturday, January 14 at the spirit line AIA state championships held at Gilbert High School, the Desert Ridge Stunt Team turned a remarkable performance into a State Championship!! Senior Mel Madison, Senior Hannah Axtell, Junior Brianna Standage, and Junior Carsyn Sudduth comprised the team.  Immediately following the performance, Head Coach Christine Shea said – “they just nailed it.”   The judges thought as much and a few hours later the Championship Hardware was presented to the girls and Coach Shea by AIA Executive Director Dr. Harold Slemmer.

Coach Shea had this to say….”People don’t realize how hard my cheer girls work.  They put in countless hours each week practicing and perfecting their skills, and have worked very hard on this the last several months.  They literally have gone through blood, sweat, and tears….so this is very rewarding for them.  I am very proud of them, they set winning a state championship as their goal….they worked for it, and they achieved it!”

This marks the 2nd time in the last 3 years the Desert Ridge Stunt Team has won the State Championship.  The Desert Ridge Community congratulates Coach Shea and these four young ladies on being State Champions!!!! Go Jags!!!
